Applied Acoustics : Education : International Master's Programme : Alumni

Recent years have shown that it is worth providing some information on 'what you can do with the gained knowledge from the master's programme in sound and vibration / acoustics'.

Although sound and vibration problems are found in a lot of application fields, their importance and existence is less known. To help you deciding, whether the programme suits your professional interests in acoustics, we collected information from a couple of alumni. We show where they came from, what background they had and what path they went after finishing the programme.

Dear oldies: If you could imagine to help us with this page and would like to appear here, send your information to Parijat Deshpande:

He was so kind to take care of putting alumni on this page. Thanks Pari.

Alumni

Hannes Bonhoff

Hannes is German. He joined our programme in 2003. Before he studied Mechanical Engineering at the TU Berlin. His major interest and goal for the 'life after Chalmers' has been the design of PA speakers.

Hannes took the following courses: ATA, EAU, FEM, HRSV, IPC, MSV, RA, TA1, TA2 and concluded the studies with the master thesis: Optimization of vibrating panel loudspeakers (Abstract as PDF). He is now a PhD student at Institute of Technical Acoustics of TU Berlin (Topic: Structure-borne sound source characterization)

Parijat Deshpande

Parijat is Indian. He joined our programme in 2001. Before, he studied Mechanical Engineering at:

Govt. College of Engr. Pune, India

He had been working in the field of Underwater Acoustic before taking up this course and has resumed work at the Acoustic Research Lab. at the National University of Singapore.

Parijat took the following courses: ATA, EAU, FEM, IPC, MSV, RA,DSP, TA1, TA2 and concluded his studies with the master thesis:

Pierrick Mialle

Pierrick is French. He joined our programme in 2003. Before, he studied Mechanical Engineering at:

UTC

His major interest and goal for the 'life after Chalmers' has been the propagation of infrasounds over long distances.

Pierrick took the following courses: ATA, EAU, HRSV, IPC, MSV, RA, TA1, TA2, DSP, ANC and concluded the studies with the master thesis: Non Linear 2D ray tracing model of the propagation of acoustic waves in the atmosphere. He is now a PhD student at Commissariat l'Energie Atomique (CEA) in Paris, in collaboration with the University of Nice Sofia-Antipolis. Topic:

Contribution of a 3D ray tracing model in a complex medium for the localization of infraound sources).
